Excerpts received from viewers of the Season by Season television show:

"Michael, watched your show Sunday, it was great and so down to earth. My Father was born in Austria and I was born in the same house but I was born an Italian (house wasn't moved the Country line was). Buono Fortuna with the show."

Nick, Rockaway, N.J.

"Hey Michael! I always watch the cooking shows on Channel 9 on Saturday mornings and I was stoked to see your new show this morning. I grew up very Italian as a native San Franciscan and go over to Europe every summer to see my family in Lucca, Italy. I related very much to your chatter about "mothers in the kitchen" and "picking the fresh pomodori" for "desinare" later in the afternoon. You obviously have lots to share and teach. I hope your show stays on the air for a long time!!! Congrats!!! and Auguri!!"

Emmett, San Francisco, C.A.

"Your first show was such a joy!! I loved the humor, the easy-going nature of Michael Chiarello, and the ease of preparing such tempting and appetizing recipes. I really enjoyed learning more about olive production and hope future shows will have these special education features. You have a real winner. Congratulations."

Connie, San Rafael, C.A.

"I caught the last 15 minutes of the May 14 show and wanted more. After the show, I ran upstairs to the computer and found the website. They're both great. I grew up in N. Cal, not too far from the valley and lived 3 years in Vicenza, Italy while in the Army. During these periods I learned to really appreciate the way life revolves around food, that Michael writes about. It's very special. Looking forward to viewing the remaining shows and the cookbooks."

Richard, Washington D.C.

"Michael, I just saw your show #2... I want to tell you how much it meant to me... I make gnocchi all the time, and seeing and hearing you talk Italian and English and the guests, Maria and friend, made me cry with tenderness. I am a very good cook and seem to be the one of us 5 children who carry on the heritage and traditions and heartfelt love for the culture the most. I feel just like you do about these things, as I hear you talk on the show and I read your bio on the net site... I look forward to all of your shows.
ciao pisano"

Marie, Olivia, N.C.

"I usually watch the PBS cooking shows on Sunday. Today by chance I discovered Season By Season and I absolutely love it. Not only did I enjoy your show so did my husband, my mom and my sister. Keep up the good work ! Keep the great recipes coming. You're a great chef Michael. I will definitely be spreading the word."

Liana, Whitestone, N.Y.

"What an excellent show!!
This is by far the best cooking show on TV. Michael has a wonderful personality.
Keep up the good work!!"

Tom, Rockaway Twp., N.J.

"This past Sunday (May 21st), we watched the SBS cooking show for the first time (the Gnocchi show). Needless to say, we are hooked! My family is from the South, and most of the dishes that I prepare for my very Italian husband are dishes that I grew up with. He was brought up in the typical Italian family (his mother and all extended family are wonderful cooks - cooking dishes that contain tons of pasta, tomato based entrees, etc). So, I have been looking for variations of recipes that I can cook for him, trying to keep with the Italian fare, but also with some variety. So thank you for the recipes - they are just what I was looking for! Not only did we love the recipes presented, but we both wanted to join in on the fun that Michael was having with his guests. I realize that frequently all one hears from the public are complaints, so I just wanted to praise you for the excellent broadcast. I wish you all continued success with the show. Have a wonderful day!"

Leslie, Harpers Ferry, WV

"Bravo,bravo...watched your show the other evening and really brought back memories of my Italian family especially my grandmother. It was always a joy when she came to our home and took over the kitchen. Family and food have always been a binding and joyful part of my childhood. I learned to cook from watching her for so many years and now share that wonderful gift with my friends and their families. thank you again...ciao,"
